We are quite chuffed to be spearheading production of TEDxGalway next month - Sat 5 February at Town Hall Theatre, with Cormac Staunton producing the show and Stephen Kavanagh acting as Director of Photography for the event. We are also pulling in a few old friends and colleagues to shoot the event, with Nigel Gilhooley and John Walsh on cameras and Rónán O' Cionnaith handling subtitling duties, for what is undoubtedly the hottest show in town next month.
Almost all the speakers have been announced and are as follows:
Pat Divilly Sunny Jacobs Robert Carley Norah Casey Brenda Romero Pat Falvey Dr Evan Keane Siobhan Keenan Fitzgerald
We were on hand on Monday evening when the President of Ireland spoke at NUI Galway's ILAS Centre for their Inaugural Distinguished Lecture. You don't get much more distinguished than this guy. Here's our video.
Headline: TEDxGalway returns to the Town Hall Theatre
TEDxGalway returns to Galway’s Town Hall Theatre on Thursday, 21 September 2017 at 7.30pm. TEDxGalway is a local gathering where live TED-like talks are shared with the community. The event’s aim is to be a shining light for all that is noteworthy, challenging and thought-provoking in Galway. The event is fully planned and coordinated by a volunteer committee who are committed to delivering the TEDx agenda of making great ideas accessible and sparking conversation.
TEDx is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas in the form of short, powerful talks. This year the event will include an exciting line up of engaging and inspiring ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’ for the community of Galway to enjoy. TEDx talks will be delivered by individuals from all walks of life who will share their ideas on topics such as: the necessity for greener cities, using culture to make better art, the practical application of emotional intelligence, universities entering the twilight zone, improving renewable energy in our communities, using spider venom to make therapeutic drugs, why people are becoming less intelligent, as well as a fun interactive TEDx talk that will demonstrate that everyone can sing!
Event Producer, Cormac Staunton is excited for this year’s event – “We have put together a great team to deliver this year’s TEDxGalway at the Town Hall Theatre on Thursday, September 21st. We have been working hard all summer to ensure that our stellar line-up of speakers continues our tradition of thought provoking and inspiring talks. With the show on the equinox, we felt this was an auspicious date to plant some new ideas that may perhaps germinate in people’s minds over the winter. Last year’s event was an incredible success and I have no doubt that this year’s event will be the same. Tickets are selling quickly and we expect a full house again this year.”
Tickets are on sale at the Town Hall Theatre for €22.50. Tickets can be purchased online (www.tht.ie), over the phone (091-569777), or by popping into the Town Hall Theatre box office at Courthouse Square, Galway. Tickets are selling fast, so early booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.
